Whence

Last updated 3 November 2026.

The short version

Whence collects no data. The developer has no servers for it, no account system, no analytics and no tracking, and cannot see how you use the app.

What stays on your device

Everything you do in Whence, such as your game scores, the branches you have explored and your settings, is kept on your device, in the app's own storage. Whence does not use iCloud or any sync service.

What leaves your device

Nothing. Whence works without a network: it has no ads, no crash reporting and no usage statistics. All the content about inventions is inside the app.

Purchases

You buy Whence through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google handles the payment under its own privacy policy; the developer receives no personal or payment details.

Children

Whence is suitable for all ages and collects nothing from anyone, children included.

Changes

If a later version changes anything here, this page will say so before that version is released, with a new date at the top.
